Blockchain — An undervalued human revolution
--
Cryptocurrency — the word on everyone’s minds, for some a captivating investment instrument, for some means to financial freedom while for some it is dot com bubble repeating all over again. I gladly follow all the ideologies and have not set out on a journey to change anyone’s belief systems. What I do wish is to share mine.
Personally, I never bought the idea of cryptocurrency, instead, what I have bought is my share in the future. I have invested in a core value — people driving the system. As I like to call it — The Human Revolution is driven with decentralization at its heart, leveraging Blockchains. It may be an illogical correlation to invest in cryptocurrency to support the underlying technology — blockchain, but I sincerely have a fear of missing out on the human revolution in whichever form it presents itself to me.
I won’t go into the technical definitions of the blockchain, there are a lot of generous people out there explaining it with beautiful infographics. Cryptocurrency is just an application of blockchain technology. Blockchain technology is in its infancy and a lot of applications are yet to be imagined, researched, and implemented. Blockchain pretty much gives the power back to us — the power to manage our life, our services, our assets. We as humans would contribute to its functioning, without the need of dealing with guiding principles set out by a few. It’s a platform that ensures everyone is on a common consensus to achieve a task defined by technology, which otherwise is difficult to achieve.
Blockchain technology is gonna change things. For all I know, blockchain is a threat to everyone who controls us, everyone who has acted as a middleman, everyone who has been gaining profits through their “so-called centralized services”. We usually worry about our privacy being taken away from us, well I believe we have a chance to stop worrying about that. Will the corporations and governments ever let this technology survive until they find their vested interests in it? They have already started criticizing by calling it — means of funneling drug money, terrorism, etc, what I fail to understand is what good has our fiat currencies achieved? Finance world wizards — Mr. Warren Buffet and Mr. Jamie Dimons have outrightly said that Cryptocurrency is ‘stupid’ and is a ‘speculative bubble’. Snapchat was considered stupid but it still thrives.
I don’t know what is the future of this technology and trust me this post is not an endorsement for cryptocurrency. What I know is in this information age, we are given a golden chance to live a prosperous life, as one human race working towards a shared goal. Passing it would be one of our most spectacular failures.
